Overview

Autoport is a privately owned company operating from Auckland New Zealand.
It utilises the latest technologies to provide a trusted and secure marketplace where dealers can
trade vehicles domestically and internationally.
Autoport is not an auction site but uses an online Offer and Counter Offer system so that buyers and sellers can
negotiate price as they would in person, with Autoport providing an independent money handling
process to ensure that both buyer and seller are protected in the transaction.
History
After spending 12 years running a business to consumer vehicle advertising web site in New Zealand - AutoBase
(now owned by Trade Me and integrated as Trade Me Motors), the founders of AutoBase identified that the current
processes, for dealers in New Zealand, to purchase vehicles from overseas sources, particularly Japan,
were frought with inefficiencies, problems and costs that could be eradicated through a well implemented system using the internet.
Few, if any, people in New Zealand have a stronger history in the automotive internet arena than the founders of Autoport.
Using the knowledge gained through the close relationship with motor vehicle dealers over these years, the founders
launched Autoport in 2010 to make purchasing vehicles from Japan an easy and trusted process by operating as an itermediary in
terms of ensuring the vehicles listed are the actual vehicles for sale and what you see online is what you are going to get
and that the money is handled in escrow so that no party is left out of pocket.
